One of the best things about Week 1 of college football is that every team has a clean slate and a renewed sense of optimism. For the Wisconsin football team, which is coming off back-to-back losing seasons, there’s a sense of optimism and pessimism around the program as it begins its 2026 campaign.

As Luke Fickell enters a pivotal season, fan opinions remain split between believing he is still the right guy who didn’t get enough resources early on, and ‘I’ll believe it when I see it’ skepticism.

After three weeks of fall camp observations, some trends have emerged, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the Badgers ahead of the season opener against Notre Dame at Lambeau Field.
