6.5 sounds about right. Like you said, it depends on how good the offense is. Plus with an easier schedule, 2.5 more wins sounds about right. If the offense comes together, it could be 8 or 9. On paper they definitely got better. Let's see if they can transfer it to the field. Cautiously Optimistic.

I think that’s a pretty fair way to look at it. Honestly, I think 6.5 is probably the right number. A lot of times, I’m guilty of assuming the offense will take a step forward simply because it feels like it can’t get worse than what we saw the season prior. And while the injuries at quarterback absolutely played a big role in that, I’ve kind of reached the point where I need to see it before I believe it.

If they do make a meaningful leap offensively, then with this schedule, you really have to expect this staff to win at least seven games to feel good about the direction of things under Luke Fickell. Otherwise, it starts to feel like the Badgers are just spinning their wheels. I don’t think this roster has a ton of top-end talent yet, but I do feel considerably better about the depth. That should help them handle the attrition that inevitably comes with a long season. So yeah, I’d say I’m cautiously optimistic too. But candidly, I’m also bracing myself a little bit until we actually see it translate on the field.
