Scouting report: Wisconsin Badgers transfer guard Trey Autry
A closer look at Trey Autry’s skill set, shooting profile, and why his role and efficiency make him a strong fit for the Wisconsin Badgers.
There’s a difference between adding production and adding purpose. For the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball program, the addition of George Washington transfer guard Trey Autry feels a lot more like the latter.
This isn’t a move where you’re projecting a player into a role and hoping it sticks. The role is already defined. The question is how efficiently he can execute it. And historically, that’s where Autry has been at his best.
Start with the surface-level numbers. Autry averaged 11.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game last season while starting all 34 contests and logging just under 29 minutes a night. He shot 43.5% from the field and 38.5% from three on more than six attempts per game.
That’s a solid baseline.
But the deeper you dig, the clearer the picture becomes.
