Preseason practice is officially underway, the roster is essentially set outside of one spot, and Wisconsin men’s basketball has reached the point where offseason opinions start becoming convictions.
Some of those convictions feel well-deserved. Others? I’m not so sure.
We’ve spent time breaking down Greg Gard’s roster-building philosophy, the Badgers’ success in the transfer portal, and why this team looks noticeably different from the one that won 24 games a season ago and earned a 5-seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Now that the Badgers are back on the court, it feels like a good time to take stock of what we think we know about this roster. A few themes have become pretty clear over the last several months. But a couple of assumptions still deserve a second look before we get too far ahead of ourselves.
So let’s play a quick game: two truths and a lie. Three takeaways about Wisconsin men’s basketball as preseason practice gets underway. Two narratives I fully believe. One I think people could be getting wrong.
