Madison, Wis. — Greg Gard and the Wisconsin basketball coaching staff have been in contact with another mid-major player who recently entered the transfer portal—but this time, they have in-state ties.
On Wednesday afternoon, Trent Markwith, owner of Relentless Hoops, reported that Wisconsin was among the teams that expressed interest in Wofford transfer Jackson Paveletzke.
Along with UW, Gonzaga, Virginia, Ohio State, Illinois, Penn State, Iowa State, Stanford, Georgia, Clemson, USC, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska, LSU, Minnesota, Missouri, and several other schools have reached out.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard from Kimberly, Wisconsin, was the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year this past season, averaging 15.1 points, 3.7 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.8 steals on 49.3% shooting from the field and 39.3% from beyond the arc.
Paveletzke started all 33 games for the Terriers this past season and finished with double-digit points in Woffords final 14 games. The Wisconsin native will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Why Jackson Paveletzke Makes Sense for Wisconsin
Jackson Paveletzke would be a no-brainer addition to the Wisconsin basketball program if they could find a way to bring him home.
