Madison, Wis. — Greg Gard and the Wisconsin basketball program have their eyes on a talented 2025 guard during the live evaluation period that makes almost too much sense for the Badgers.

Get 50% off for 1 year

Mason Klabo, a point guard from North Dakota, is currently playing for Howard Pulley on the AAU circuit. His impressive performances in the past two seasons have caught the attention of some Power 5 programs.

As a sophomore, he averaged 27.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists on an impressive 40% shooting from beyond the arc.

“Greg Gard and his assistant [Joe Krabbenhoft] attended all my games this past weekend in Atlanta,” Klabo told BadgerNotes.

Klabo is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound guard with excellent court vision and the ability to score from anywhere on the floor. He is a true playmaker, with a keen sense of when to distribute the ball and when to take over a game himself. He has a quick first step, excellent IQ, and attacks closeouts well, allowing him to create space for himself and his teammates.

You can watch his HUDL film here.

Already holding offers from North Dakota, North Dakota State, and Northern Iowa, Klabo has been on the Wisconsin basketball coaching staff’s radar since last summer when the Badgers attended several of his AAU games.

Wisconsin Has a History With Howard Pulley Recruits

Greg Gard is no stranger to recruiting top talent from the Howard Pulley AAU program, which has sent players like Jared Berggren, Brad Davison, Alex Illikainen, Joe Krabbenhoft, Jordan Taylor, Kammron Taylor, Nolan Winter, and Jack Robison to Madison.

It doesn’t hurt that UW has a strong track record of developing most of those players into meaningful contributors.
