When Luke Fickell was hired as the new head coach of the Wisconsin football program, he quickly assembled an impressive cast of assistants, some of whom worked under him at Cincinnati.
One of Fickell's top priorities was bringing Brady Collins, Pat Lambert, and Max Stienecker to run Wisconsin's strength and conditioning program and recruiting departments, respectively.
As far as on-field coaching assistants, defensive coordinator Mike Tressel and co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Colin Hitschler were also at the top of his internal wishlist to join him in Madison.
And even though the Badgers have yet to play a game under the new regime, coach Hitschler has quickly made a name for himself as a rising star in the industry.
How do you do that without playing a game, you ask? On the recruiting trail, that's how. Since joining the Wisconsin football program in January, Hitschler has been crushing it as the lead recruiter on East Coast -- where he was born and raised.
Wisconsin Has a Dynamic Recruiter on the Badgers Coaching Staff
In his eight months working for the Wisconsin football program, Colin Hitschler has had the proverbial hot hand on the recruiting trail.
Currently, Wisconsin has the No. 23 recruiting class in the country and 20 players committed in the 2024 class. And Hitschler has played a significant role in the Badgers climbing the charts.
Seven of the 20 players mentioned above and three of the seven committed four-star prospects had Hitschler serving as their lead recruiter.
