The Univerity of Wisconsin football team couldn't close against the No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday, falling 28-13 at home. With the loss, the Badgers are now 0-5 against ranked opponents under Luke Fickell.

The Badgers had a real chance to pull off the upset, but questionable playcalling and a brutal turnover sealed their fate. This was a considerable step up in competition, and you could say the fact they competed at all was a positive, but the fact that it was self-inflicted wounds stings.

“Nothing is going to be handed to you in this league, especially the way it is now,” Fickell told reporters. “I think that’s what we’re truly recognizing.

“What’s the breaking point? What’s the thing that puts you over the top? I don’t know. But that’s something we can’t sit and wait for. It’s something that we’ve got to go out and find a way to make happen.”

Here are my grades for the Badgers offense, defense, and special teams from Saturday night's home loss to Penn State.

Offense Grade: D
