If you’ve followed the University of Wisconsin football program under head coach Luke Fickell, you know they don’t always play it safe on the recruiting trail. Every cycle brings a few surprises—quiet evaluations that turn into commits. And there might be another one in the works.

The latest target? Ole Miss wide receiver commit Zion Legree.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound speedster out of Pine Forest High School in Pensacola, Florida, is currently pledged to Lane Kiffin’s program after committing in November 2024. But that hasn’t stopped Wisconsin from applying pressure. Wide receivers coach Jordan Reid has been working that relationship hard this spring, and it’s paid off by earning an official visit to Madison scheduled for June 13–15.

This one’s worth monitoring.

Legree is an absolute burner with a 4.35-second 40-yard dash to his name and is currently ranked No. 516 nationally and No. 34 among athletes in the 2026 class by the 247Sports Composite. He chose the Rebels over a loaded offer list that included Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Notre Dame, Miami, Missouri, Washington, and Mississippi State, among others.

As a sophomore, Legree put together a quietly impressive season. He hauled in 31 catches for 557 yards and five touchdowns—good for 17.9 yards per reception. That kind of big-play production speaks to his explosiveness and vertical threat potential. Junior year stats aren’t available but his development has taken another step.

So what’s making Wisconsin a real contender here?
