Wisconsin football has been penalized by the NCAA for recruiting violations—its first major punishment since the Badgers infamous 2001 Shoe Box scandal.
The optics aren’t great—no denying that. I do think it’s worth noting that these calls would’ve been legal under the new rules that took effect just a few months later, and Wisconsin self-reported everything. That doesn’t excuse it, but it adds some important context. Still, when you’re not winning and this stuff surfaces, it only adds fuel to the fire. Fair to question it all right now.
Absolutely it's incredibly frustrating to see leaders who not only underperform but also show a disregard for the rules that everyone else is expected to follow. It speaks to a deeper issue of accountability and integrity. If you can't win fairly or even respect the system, you shouldn't be leading in the first place.
The timing’s definitely not great, especially when momentum matters most—but if the penalties stay focused on past infractions and don’t bleed into this year’s class, then there’s still a shot for the Badgers to hold their ground.
Not only can LF not win on the field he and his staff can't follow the rules or didn't take the time to understand them!

Oh boy. TV and radio media are going to have a field day with this one. 😒

You can't tell me that has not happened any place else or any other university in the USA. I believe it has happened, but just not reported.
