Three games in, we know more about the Wisconsin football team than we did at the start of the season.
Just not enough to know what any of it means yet.
The Badgers went 2-1 during nonconference play, losing 41-13 to No. 4 Notre Dame before handling Western Illinois 36-9 and Eastern Michigan 54-10. Along the way, Luke Fickell’s team showed legitimate signs that this roster is better equipped than the one that went 4-8 last season.
It also showed enough familiar flaws to make skepticism perfectly reasonable. Now the runway for tinkering and establishing an identity is gone. Wisconsin heads to Penn State for its Big Ten opener, and we’re about to find out which parts of the first three weeks were real.
