Wisconsin Football Lands Oklahoma Transfer QB Nick Evers
Wisconsin Badgers head coach Luke Fickell secured a commitment from highly-regarded Oklahoma transfer quarterback Nick Evers.
Madison, Wis. — Since becoming the head coach of the Wisconsin football program, Luke Fickell has been red hot on the recruiting trail.
That trend continued Saturday morning when Nick Evers, a former four-star quarterback prospect who began his career with the Oklahoma Sooners – announced his intention to transfer to the University of Wisconsin following an official visit to Madison earlier this week.
“I’m ready to get to Wisconsin and help build something special,” Evers told On3 recruiting expert Hayes Fawcett.
Per the 247Sports Composite, he was the No. 172 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, the No. 9 QB in the country, and the No. 27 player in Texas.
Evers, a former standout at Flower Mound High School, finished his prep career throwing for 4,944 yards and 40 touchdowns through the air – adding another 915 yards rushing for 15 scores on the ground across two seasons as a starter, according to MaxPreps.
Scouting Report
In Nick Evers, Wisconsin football is getting a high-upside dual-threat quarterback who was a blue-chip prospect coming out of high school. Most importantly, he has four years of eligibility remaining – making him a perfect long-term play for the Badgers.
The former four-star recruit has an impressive arm, instincts, and the mobility UW’s coaching staff desires to extend plays and make things happen off-script.
On paper – Evers playing style meshes perfectly with the offense coach Fickell and Phil Longo intend on running next season. The offensive system he ran at Oklahoma had plenty of similarities – so stylistically – it makes a ton of sense.
Last season Evers appeared in just one game with the Sooners, so he is still unproven. His potential – however, is through the roof, and I’m not suggesting he’ll get there – but he has program-elevating potential at QB if everything breaks right.
I wouldn’t be shocked if he became the Wisconsin Badgers QB1 as early as next season.
