When you have an offseason like the Wisconsin football team had, you generally have a good sense of who will be starting or, at the very least, on a path toward playing time in the upcoming season.
With the pressure turned up on Luke Fickell entering his fourth season at the helm of the Badgers, he and his staff hit the portal hard, bringing in 33 transfers in an effort to add as much veteran experience and proven talent as possible.
When you have a roster constructed around veteran transfers and rising underclassmen like Eugene Hilton Jr., Mason Posa, and Cooper Catalano, you wouldn’t expect an incoming true freshman to make a push for playing time. Yet that’s exactly what wide receiver Kash Brock is doing.
The former 3-star prospect originally committed to and signed with Matt Campbell and the Iowa State Cyclones after catching 54 passes for 960 yards and 10 touchdowns during his senior season in 2025.
After Campbell took the Penn State job, Brock was released from his National Letter of Intent and reopened his recruitment. Penn State showed late interest, but Brock ultimately joined the Badgers’ 2026 recruiting class.
He wasn’t a highly touted prospect at the time of his commitment. In fact, according to the 247Sports rankings, Brock was the lowest-ranked player in the Badgers’ class, which ranked 66th in the country and last in the Big Ten.
Now, barring injury, Brock looks like he could be the only true freshman with a path to playing time in 2026.
