Wisconsin football’s loss to Iowa exposes a continuous culture problem

After the Badgers’ blowout loss to the Badgers, we’re still trying to figure out what this program is.

The matchup with Iowa on Saturday was supposed to be a litmus test for the Wisconsin football team. Where are they as a program? After losing to the Hawkeyes in four straight seasons, and in blowout fashion the last two, the Badgers had a chance to show they were back on a level playing field with their rivals.

Instead, we got the exact same thing we’ve seen in recent years: a beatdown.

If you follow the trends of these two programs in the last five seasons and just checked the box score of this game, the 30-0 loss wouldn’t seem like a big surprise.

But this Wisconsin football team has shown signs of life and is a program on the rise, instead of the one we’ve seen the past four seasons. They kept up with Notre Dame in Week 1 before the wheels fell off in the second half, and they beat No. 16 USC convincingly just a week ago.
