At the bye week, Wisconsin has no choice but to “pound the rock” under Luke Fickell, with limited options and blind faith as the only real plan for 2025.
Never read you before - Don't get it - IF - MI - isn't a blow-out - ?, then Iowa seems a Must Win - but they looked quite good against IN - yesterday, for them a loss to WI - would be disasterous - I'd say - Fickell needs to Win against Iowa- or the pressure to fire him will become even More Intense - then OSU + the Ducks???? - IF WI beats Iowa, then pressure off for a moment - then beats WA, then wins at least 1 of: IN, IL or MN - I can imagine - a Rock - 2 of the last 3 - apologies for doubting him - but IF Not - the losses - in the Portal + Recruits -backing out - 2026 - would be lucky to win 2 games - with the pitiful team that will be left - Donors - will be Necessary for $25 Mil - if needed - else - we will compete for being the worst team in the B10 - for the next 2-4 years - that will cost UW far more than $25M - yes $20+M is a lot - but it could get even worse! I hope - we will upset various teams, but there needs to be plans for If not- Fickell is HORRIBLE - at speaking to the press/public + looks lost - on the sidelines. IF he's smart - he will consider - trying to negotiate a resignation -unless he wishes to end his coaching career at WI - at the end of 2025 - and "run with the money" - while trying for jobs - he won't get or taking assistant coaching jobs - and 2nd rate schools for a pittance= further looking the fool. I hope that he's smarter than he's looked so far!!!!
Great review of what was, what we hoped for and what we got. We wanted a higher ceiling and we got a lower floor. The "culture has improved?" Rellly? From a winning program in the Top 25 to a losing program rated in the high 70's? What player, portal or otherwise, with NFL ambitions would join this program. Eventually both McIntosh and Fickell need to go--when the terminations are financially manageable. I sure hope that Fickell is not again given another one year extension as was the case the last two years. The program is now just a joke; we have to wait things out until change comes.
