When you’re in the business of roster building in 2025, you’ve always got to think two steps ahead. That’s why Wisconsin football is working hard on Donovan Dunmore, a 2026 cornerback commit from Oregon State who’s headed to Madison for an official visit the weekend of Sept. 19-20.

As I first reported on Bucky’s Burrow several weeks ago, Dunmore’s plans to take an official to Wisconsin have already been in motion for quite some time, even before he made that announcement public. Now that the visit is official, the focus turns to how the Badgers handle their shot to impress Dunmore.

Now, here’s the deal: a flip is never guaranteed, and even if it were to materialize, it might not even be to Wisconsin. But when you’ve put in the time to build a relationship and keep yourself in the conversation, you give yourself a real chance. That’s where the coaching staff sits right now, and there is plenty of mutual interest between Dunmore and the Badgers.

So who is Dunmore? He’s a 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back out of Buchanan High School in California. He’s a legit two-sport standout and one of the fastest sprinters in the state, with 10.5 speed in the 100 meters, and that athleticism translates on tape. He’s fluid in coverage, has the length you want at corner, and he doesn’t shy away from contact.

Physicality shows up in his game: he’s willing to fight through blocks, he’ll finish plays in the open field, and Dunmore plays the ball well in the air. Given the 35-inch vertical and 4.48 40-yard dash, there's a lot of upside.

That athletic profile shows up on tape, but Dunmore sees his game as more than just measurables.

"I feel like not many DBs have the speed, size, and strength that I do," Dunmore told Badgernotes. "My school runs all coverages from 0-6, which I realized many other high schools don't do. And I'm working on coming out of my break with more confidence."

Recruiting-wise, Dunmore committed to Oregon State in June over offers from Boise State, Arizona, Colorado State, San Diego State, UNLV, and several others, but that hasn’t stopped the pursuit of additional programs.
