Fall camp opens for Wisconsin football on Aug. 6, and with it comes the first real opportunity to separate offseason optimism from reality.

Before practices begin and reports start rolling in, I wanted to empty the notebook and get all of my pre-fall camp thoughts on paper. Consider this a snapshot of where I think each defensive position group stands entering camp, from projected starters and players I’m buying stock in to lingering questions and a few educated guesses about how things might shake out.

With the offensive notebook out of the way, here’s where my head is at on the defensive side of the ball entering fall camp.
