Wisconsin football lands Old Dominion transfer quarterback Colton Joseph
Old Dominion quarterback Colton Joseph has committed to the Wisconsin Badgers football program through the transfer portal.
The Wisconsin football program entered the offseason needing answers at quarterback, and the staff believes it found them in the transfer portal.
That news became official when Pete Thamel reported that Old Dominion dual-threat quarterback Colton Joseph had signed with Wisconsin, giving head coach Luke Fickell and the Badgers the kind of offensive centerpiece this staff has been searching for since arriving in Madison.
This wasn’t about filling out the room. It was about choosing a direction.
Joseph will arrive on campus with a résumé that jumps off the page and, more importantly, a skill set that finally aligns with what Wisconsin has been trying to build on offense. After a redshirt sophomore season in which he was one of the most productive quarterbacks in the country, the Badgers are betting that elite Group of Five production can translate to the Big Ten when paired with improved infrastructure and opportunity.
The numbers tell the story. Joseph finished the 2025 season ranked No. 8 nationally in total offense at 302.6 yards per game, combining for 34 touchdowns while operating as a true run-pass threat.
He was one of the Sun Belt’s most dangerous players with the ball in his hands, finishing No. 5 in the league as a passer (2,624 yards) and No. 4 as a rusher with 1,007 yards on the ground. Through 19 career starts, Joseph has piled up 4,251 passing yards and 32 touchdowns, while adding another 1,654 rushing yards and 24 scores as a runner. He’ll have two years of eligibility left.
The advanced data helps support what the raw production suggests.
