Well Dillon, a pretty damn good article considering our F grade for recruiting and your need to not be black balled by our Athletic Department, especially by Patrick Herb. How can 3 Stars be ready to play next fall ? General manager Sedberry was described as an excellent recruiter when promoted. The man he replaced who went to Southern Cal got 21 Four Stars. TWENTY ONE ! Sedberry was another incestuous 608 promotion. This recruiting cycle proves he doesn't have what it takes to be a recruiter. If Ted Kellner wasn't blowing smoke then show me what the new money bought us, nothing but 12 Three Stars ? Dillon, Google "The Varsity Collective Form 990" and you will see the name of a big shot 608 attorney who created and runs our pathetic and idiotic Varsity Collective. If your 608 subscribers know him then they should ask him WTF is going on that we couldn't buy 1 Four Star football recruit or keep the Southern Cal super recruiter in Madison. I'm a top UW donor. Why would any booster donate to our pitiful collective after seeing the results of this year's recruiting ? Form 990 indicates that very little NIL money was spent in 2024. That sucks. I agree with Jim Ryan and I expand his comment to say I have no confidence in our Athletic Department's leadership. Clean house. PS: Michigan State got a great new head coach in Fitzgerald. Ed

Ed, really appreciate you taking the time to lay all that out — a lot of valid frustration in there. This class is absolutely well below the standard Wisconsin needs to hit, and it’s fair to question both NIL execution and overall recruiting alignment after a cycle like this. I personally see this as a D+ level class, especially given the lack of high-end guys, with it being a small class. I don’t see the path for many of them to push for time in 2026.

The staff now has to prove it in the portal and with retention, because that’s where the real margin for error lives. I’ll keep covering it honestly, and I hear every bit of what you’re saying. The people steering Wisconsin’s rebuild have overpromised and underdelivered to this point, and even if they have secured new streams of funding behind the scenes, the program has reached a point where the only convincing evidence will be results.

Disappointing, frustrating, underwhelming, etc. Not unexpected but still rather jarring. The decommitments during the final week were just crushing. On to portal season.

I hear you. It was a disappointing finish. Nobody expected this class to be elite, but losing the top guys that late in the process makes everything sting a little more. Regardless of whether it was NIL-related or not.

But you’re right: now it’s all about what they do in the portal. That’s where Wisconsin has to steady the ship and rebuild the roster. It’s going to be a really important few weeks ahead. I’d love to be more optimistic.

They still aren't getting quality if they are 71st nationwide and 15th in the Big Ten. I have no confidence this offensive, staff can 'coach them up'.

Totally fair concerns. A class that sits in the 70s nationally and near the bottom of the Big Ten isn’t what anyone envisioned when this staff came in. The misses and late flips are the bigger issue than the ranking itself, in my opinion.

That said, the reality now is they have to make up ground in the portal, because that’s where the immediate impact players are coming from. The margin for error is razor-thin, and they’ve got to show they can both evaluate better and develop faster.
