Scouting report: Wisconsin Badgers transfer forward Victory Onuetu
A closer look at Victory Onuetu’s offensive skill set, rebounding, rim protection, and how he gives Wisconsin a different frontcourt look.
At some point, building a roster for Wisconsin basketball stops being about adding more skill and starts being about filling in what’s missing.
That’s where Victory Onuetu comes into the picture.
This isn’t about Wisconsin expanding the offensive arsenal or finding another player to stretch the floor. It’s about balance. It’s about having a frontcourt piece who can do the things that don’t always show up in the box score but tend to matter over the course of a Big Ten season.
And that’s where Onuetu’s value starts to come into focus as he enters his final year of eligibility.
Start with the baseline. At 6-foot-11, 235 pounds with a long wingspan, Onuetu brings a physical presence that Wisconsin hasn’t consistently had down low, and historically hasn’t prioritized, in its frontcourt.
In 35 appearances at Hofstra, Onuetu averaged 4.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in just under 18 minutes per game while shooting 56.6% from the field, doing all of his work around the rim. According to Barttorvik, he also posted a 0.8 PRPG with a 109.8 offensive rating.
The production is modest. The impact isn’t. Because when you dig into Onuetu’s advanced data, the on-court identity becomes clear.
