Owen Foxwell wants to be the 'head of the snake' for Wisconsin basketball's defense

The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball program didn’t enter the offseason looking for another point guard to carry the offense.
The Badgers had already invested heavily in building around one of the Big Ten’s most talented frontcourts. What Greg Gard needed was a point guard capable of organizing the offense, leading a new-look roster and helping change the identity of a defense that struggled to get consistent stops a season ago.
That's why, when Australian guard Owen Foxwell became available after LSU's coaching change, Wisconsin quickly renewed its pursuit. Existing relationships, particularly with forward Austin Rapp, along with the involvement of New Zealand basketball legend Kirk Penney, helped the Badgers land one of their most important offseason additions.
