Agree with @EdH; Gard got out coached on the boards. I have no clue why there would be only 1 white jersey under the basket versus 3 or 4 blue jerseys on missed 3 point shots.
High Point made some unbelievable threes. However, unable to inbound the ball toward the end of the game was inexcusable. And everyone in the arena knew that Boyd was going to take the ball to the hoop. Why do it again and again at the end?
This is a pretty soft article that should just maybe acknowledge head-on that all the pre-tourney success leaves us in the same place, and it’s on Gard.
It’s been a decade. It’s not gonna work if March success is the goal. If the goal is 5th place in the big ten and some fun winter games - he’s our guy. I don’t know who is going to do better , I do know a real pattern exists. Not once twice or three times. Five or six times in nine years. It isn’t going to change. Let's just acknowledge he coaches them softly. It is what it is.
While Nick Boyd had a good game, in the last minutes of games that were close, it seemed that Greg only relies on Nick. With his ability to get into the lane, where at least two, if not three defenders were, why not kick the ball out to an open shooter, especially since we do have good shooters from the outside? Secondly, while our man-to-man defense has been pretty good the last half of the season, why not throw in a zone once in awhile as a "change up"? Duke did that yesterday after falling behind as their man-to-man defense was not effective. And, speaking of zone defenses, some of you might remember when Southwest Missouri State (in 2001) used a "triangle and two" zone defense and held the Badgers to either 32 or 36 points. Zones can be effective (and slow down dribblers) in the right situations. But, our coaching staff does not seen to think so.

Two minutes into the second half, I could feel it coming. I couldn't watch it happen again. Seen it too many times in postseason.
Didn't check the final score until evening. Just....disappointed.
Bad defense killed them. They finally establish a good offense and defense goes out the window.
