What convinced Wisconsin football OL commit Jack Tabbert to stay home
Wisconsin OL commit Jack Tabbert discusses earning a Badgers offer, his official visit, and why he believes this staff can turn things around.

The road to earning a scholarship offer from the Wisconsin football staff didn’t come until later in the recruiting process for 2027 offensive lineman Jack Tabbert. But when the opportunity arrived, he made the most of it.
Before becoming the latest addition to Luke Fickell’s recruiting class, the Pewaukee standout was committed to North Dakota State. Wisconsin had yet to offer, and Tabbert’s recruitment was headed in a different direction.
Then came an opportunity.
After camping in Madison and competing in front of offensive line coach Eric Mateos and the Badgers staff, Tabbert turned that opportunity into a scholarship offer from his home-state school. Not long after, he flipped his commitment and became part of Wisconsin’s 2027 recruiting class.
Looking back, the experience validated a decision to bet on himself.
“It was an unreal payout,” Tabbert told BadgerNotes. “I am super happy that I decided to go [to camp] and bet on myself and earn that offer.”
For Tabbert, the opportunity to stay home carried extra meaning. Growing up in Wisconsin, the chance to play for the state’s flagship program was difficult to ignore. Beyond football, he believes representing his home state will provide an added level of motivation once he arrives on campus.
“I think being able to play for my home state will just give me that extra little passion and drive for everything, which is only achieved by representing something you really take pride in,” Tabbert said.
