Could Vinny Anthony help jumpstart the Badgers sputtering offense?
Could Vinny Anthony step up as the Badgers downfield threat?
The Wisconsin Badgers (2-2, 0-1 Big Ten) are still in search of something they can hang their hat on offensively and are looking for playmakers they can consistently rely on to spark this struggling unit.
It doesn't help that the Badgers lost starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke to a torn ACL in their third game of the season, forcing them to pivot to their "1B" on the depth chart. Redshirt sophomore Braedyn Locke has since taken the reins of QB1, and for better or worse, it looks like he's the best option to lead this football team moving forward.
For Wisconsin to make meaningful strides, they'll need to lean on their run game. Luke Fickell made it clear the staff plans to move away from the running back-by-committee approach they've experimented with to start the year. But they'll also need to connect on the occasional explosive play through the air to keep defenses honest.
The player who presents the best chance to provide that downfield threat for Wisconsin? Junior wideout Vinny Anthony.
