The University of Wisconsin football program’s 2027 recruiting class has become one of the bigger storylines of the offseason.

The Badgers have landed most of their top targets, won recruiting battles against Power Four programs they hadn’t consistently beaten in the past, and built real momentum both nationally and within the state.

Entering official visit season, Wisconsin sat at 13 verbal commitments in the 2027 class, with much of that foundation built around in-state talent. Over the course of just a few weekends in late May and early June, the Badgers staff hosted the bulk of their top targets, came away with commitments from most of them, and posted an eye-opening closing rate in an era when recruiting has become increasingly transactional.

That naturally leads to a bigger question.

Q: The staff is getting a lot of credit for the recruiting heater it’s been on in the 2027 class. What do you think is driving Wisconsin’s success?
