Best Bets: Wisconsin Badgers vs. Georgia Southern Eagles
Here are this week’s best bets for the Badgers week 3 showdown vs. Georgia Southern, courtesy of DraftKings
The Wisconsin football progrum did it again. Not only breaking me mentally and emotionally but falling to Washington State for the second time in as many years.
The defense looked lost in the 1st half and didn’t force a turnover for the second week in a row. It’s not something we Badgers fans are accustomed to, nor should we be. Miss you Jim.
The offense was just as bad in the 1st half, if not worse.
Braelon Allen had seven carries and six catches for a total of 31 yards. Phil Longo seems to think he’s better suited as a wide receiver.
Ron Stone Jr. had Jack Nelson in a blender all night, recording two sacks and two forced fumbles.
Tanner Mordecai did his best Graham Mertz impression in the first half but did bounce back in the second half and made some nice plays.
I know this is a new regime for the Badgers, and I should show more patience. But I have the same disgusted feeling in my veins as I did after week two of last season, and it hurts.
The fact I went 2-7-0 last week doesn’t help the cause.
PSA: I’m a big dumb idiot, but Gambling is hard — especially when you’re one of the few, the proud, and the brave to place six bets on one game (respect the troops).
On to the week two best bet results…
Wisconsin Football Week Two Gambling Results
Losers:
Game Total Over 59 (-112) – Came six points short of this hitting. If the Badger’s first half wasn’t so pitiful, this would’ve smashed.
Wisconsin Team Total Touchdowns over 4.5 (+130) – I thought the Badgers would score over 35 points. They didn’t and only scored two touchdowns.
This was a stupid bet.
Wisconsin Football -6 vs. Washington State (-108) – This was my best bet of the week. I thought the Badgers would boat race Wazzu.
Turns out Wazzu is for real, and Wisconsin football will endure some growing pains.
James Madison -6(-105) vs. Virginia – Looked good early as JMU got out to a quick 14-point lead. Then they fell behind by 11 points early in the third quarter.
Then of course, they scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to win the game by one point.
Gambling is fun. It’s so much fun.
Alabama -7.5 vs. Texas (-105) – Texas is back…God damnit.
Braelon Allen over 101.5 rush yards (-115) and Braelon Allen over 2 touchdowns(+135) – I don’t want to talk about it.
Winners:
It’s plural this week! We have to take any wins we can at this point.
Colorado -3 vs. Nebraska (-112) – Thankfully, I had the most money overall on this game, so the week wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been.
The Buffs started slow but started to figure it out late in the second quarter and never looked back. Beating the Huskers 36-14.
Will Pauling over 35.5 receiving yards (-115) – Couldn’t believe the number was this low. Pauling is clearly Mordecai’s favorite target, not named Braelon Allen.
Pauling cashed this ticket easily, recording five receptions for 78 yards.
Wisconsin Football Best Bets vs. Georgia Southern
I’m writing this a little later in the week than usual, so there are actually some player props out for the game!
These odds are on the DraftKings SportsBook as of Friday at 7:55 p.m.
Wisconsin Football -20 vs. Georgia Southern (-110) – The line has moved from -19 to -20 since Tuesday, which makes me hate this bet.
I think Georgia Southern isn’t getting enough credit. They’re no pushovers. If the Badgers start slow, I could see them keeping it a game.
However, I have to take the Badgers -20.
Maybe it’s because I’m six feet from the edge…but hey, maybe six feet ain’t so far down.
Game Total Under 65 (-110) – This is my best bet of the week.
Like the spread, this line moved up a whole point since Tuesday, which is great since I like the under here.
The new clock rules have unders hitting at an all-time high (If I’m wrong, blame @JasonC_Long, who gave me this stat).
Scoring 65 points is a crazy number for Wisconsin Football, no matter who the coach is.
Also praying for Phil Longo to establish the run much, much more this week.
Wisconsin Badgers Player Props
I threw in a same-game parlay for shits and giggles since I don’t like any bets besides the under from this game.
Chez Mellusi Rushing Yards over 64.5 (+125) – Think the Badgers return to the recipe that won them the game against Buffalo and rely on their backfield.
Chez is super talented, and the coaching staff has no problem giving him plenty of looks.
Braelon Allen over 99.5 rushing yards (+115) – Allen can’t be happy about his usage against Wazzu. I look for the coaching staff to right their wrongs and give him 20+ carries and for Allen to prove a point.
Will Pauling over 49.5 receiving yards(+100) – Pauling has hit over 49.5 yards in both games this season, even with Allen and Mellusi totaling 368 yards against Buffalo.
Davis Brin over 274.5 passing yards (+150) – Georgia Southern averages 308 yards per game through the air compared to 159 per game rushing.
The Wisconsin secondary has been less than impressive, aside from Ricardo Hallman. If Georgia Southern wants to beat Wisconsin football, their passing game is the best option.
Tanner Mordecai Under 254.5 passing yards(-130) – As I mentioned before, I expect Wisconsin to run the ball heavily in this game.
The best thing for Tanner would be to manage this game properly, come away with zero turnovers, and maybe hit a big shot or two downfield on a play-action.
Game Total Under 64.5 (+100) – Different odds using the same game parlay, and I couldn’t love it more.
Other CFB Bets I Like
Colorado -24 vs. Colorado State (-110) – Colorado State is my second favorite college football team due to the ungodly hours @dillongraff I spent building a dynasty with them on NCAA Football 14.
Colorado is the clear pick here, though, after Colorado State made it personal.
Hawaii vs. Oregon Game Total Over 68 (-110) – Hawaii is giving up over 30 points per game but is scoring over 25 per game. Oregon will put up 81 again if they can.
East Carolina vs. Appalachian State Game Total Over 47.5 (-110) – Appalachian State scores nearly 40 points per game but allows 32 points scored per game.
East Carolina is only scoring eight points per game, but I’m hoping they can take advantage of App State’s poor defense and score just enough to hit the over.
