Badgers planning to phase out running back by committee approach
The Badgers want to establish a clear pecking order at tailback.
The University of Wisconsin football team is going to ditch the running back by committee approach it's leaned on to start the 2024 season.
Head coach Luke Fickell feels that dividing carries between Chez Mellusi, Tawee Walker, Cade Yacamelli, and freshman Darrion Dupree hasn't allowed any of them to get into a rhythm thus far, which is an issue for a team that feels running the football is one of its strengths offensively.
"You know, it's such a tough position, and we got a little bit of a tough ride right now at the running back spot, meaning we've got a bunch of guys," Fickell told reporters..."I don't know that you can play four or five running backs. We've got to focus on who's going to be the one, who's going to be the next guy, and then who's the spare. It doesn't give them an opportunity to get into a rhythm."
